We started with four trees that everyone said were done. Turns out “done” was the wrong call.

Hi, I’m Todd.

Back in 2018, I was building my home in Houston. At one point, my landscaper told me two of the mature live oak trees in the yard needed to be removed — they were declining. These established trees are something that could not be replaced. That didn’t sit right with me.

Those trees had been there for 100 years. They were part of the property, part of the landscape and design of the home.

So instead of removing them, I started looking for a way to bring them back.

A search that turned into a mission

Four arborists, one verdict

I called four different arborists. All four said the same thing: the trees might last a little longer, but they’d ultimately need to come out. Trees are one of the most valuable parts of any landscape — and there wasn’t a simple, effective solution out there. So I built one.

A paper on the doorstep

Two weeks after those visits, a science paper showed up at my door — from a PhD microbiology professor who’d been quietly reversing oak decline across Texas. I gave his treatment a try, and it worked almost immediately. A few more treatments over the following year, and the trees were back to great condition.

Nobody in the industry had it

Why hadn’t four renowned arborists in the second-largest city in the U.S. ever come across this? I spent time in garden centers looking for anything similar. I found nothing — just the same repackaged products that had been around for 30-plus years.

Five years of R&D

We turned that technology into mitogrow — and quickly discovered it didn’t just work on trees. It worked on virtually everything in horticulture. I wanted to make landscaping and gardening easier for people, with genuinely stellar results.
